Cathy Roof, committee chair
Structure: Chair and two Vice Chairs. Immediate Past Chair, all Committees Chairs
Scheduled Meeting Dates (2nd Monday of July, September, November (alt. date due to holiday), January, March, May, July)

Major Tasks

  • Monitor LPC’s compliance with CDE mandates, contract responsibilities and fiscal solvency
  • Oversee use of funds related to LPC activities and mandates
  • Disseminate Comprehensive Countywide Child Care Plan and Needs Assessment to interested parties including the County Board of Supervisors, County Office of Education, County Board of Education, businesses, government, parents, and community agencies
  • Review and revise meeting and subcommittee format as needed
Dan Safran, committee chair
Structure: A Chair will be elected for and by each Committee and appointed by the Planning Council Chair
Scheduled Meeting Dates (2nd Thursday every third month of January, April, July, October)

Major Tasks

  • Oversee implementation and dissemination of A Road Map to Kindergarten¬© Parent Guide
  • Seek community partners and funders for project
  • Identify evaluation strategies and develop business plan for project
  • Develop and implement community campaign
  • Monitor carryout of business plan as defined by committee members
Eric Peterson, committee chair
Structure: A Chair will be elected for and by each Committee and appointed by the Planning Council Chair
Scheduled Meeting Dates (3rd Tuesday of August, October, January, February, *March [2nd Tuesday due to YCIF] and May)

Major Tasks

  • Develop Early Care and Education Platform for LPC approval. Advocacy platform will focus on collective agenda that will guide LPC’s local strategies with a focus on: informing and connecting the public with local, statewide and national resources
  • Plan and organize LPC’s Annual Young Children’s Issues Forum
  • Identify evaluation strategies and develop business plan for project
  • Foster collaboration and partnership with CCDAA, Children Now, CAPPA, PACE, AEYC, FCC and CalSAC associations
Carolyn Johnson, committee chair
Structure: A Chair will be elected for and by each Committee and appointed by the Planning Council Chair
Scheduled Meeting Dates (4th Tuesday every other month)

Major Tasks

  • Promote coordination of services and collaboration with community partners to maximize local resources
  • Advise and oversee the implementation of AB212 state plan retention activities to ensure alignment with current state and local initiatives
  • Analyze outcomes of Project Advisory Committee projects and make recommendations for future direction and project(s) focus
  • Share project information with Local Planning Council Board Members and other appropriate committees or stakeholders
(Ad Hoc) Structure: Members to be appointed by Chair at May meeting
Major Tasks

  • Request nominations for LPC Officers
  • Prepare a slate of proposed officers
  • Present slate of proposed officers to Council for voting at May meeting
  • Develop council activities and events that promote peer relationships for new and prospective council members
