Strengthening Families is a research-informed approach to increase family strengths, enhance child development and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. It is based on engaging families, programs, and communities in building five protective factors: Parental Resilience; Social Connections, Knowledge of parenting and child development; Concrete support in times of need; and Social and Emotional competence of children.

This screening tool looks at children’s language, fine & gross motor, cognitive, and personal-social development. ASQ-3 can help identify a child’s strengths as well as any areas where the child may need support.

At this introductory training, participants will:

  • Become familiar with how to use the ASQ-3, including how to administer, score, interpret and make referral decisions based on the results
  • Learn to effectively communicate with parents about screening and support parents to complete the ASQ-3
  • Learn how to effectively conduct follow-up and resource connection utilizing the Help Me Grow system

ASQ: SE-2 is a set of questionnaires that screen behavior and social-emotional development in young children. There are 9 questionnaires for different ages used to screen children from 1 month to 6 years old. ASQ-SE:2 can identify your child’s social-emotional strengths and areas in which your child may need support.
